The Governor of Adamawa State has begun to move all the Almajiries living in Adamawa State back to their states. The total number of Almajira sent back home was 400.
This was made known by the Secretary to Adamawa State Governor, Bashiru Ahmad, on Wednesday after the relocation of some street kids who were sent out of the state back home, all to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The Almajirai to be sent back to their home states are from Gombe State.
The secretary said that this order from the State Government was in agreement with the Northern State Governors Forum sending back the Almajirai.
He said, “The way these children are accommodated and increasing in the markets and state, communities is a very high risk which can affect the health of individuals and increase of COVID-19.
“That is why the governor decided to send back all street kids and Alimajirai so that every state takes direct responsibility of its own citizens, and all states have taken measures by sending back those that are not their own and receive those that are from Adamawa State and also said it’s a good idea to bring Quranic teaching into western education.”
The Adamawa State Government said that even as they have decided to send back these Almajirai from the state, he also put to hand that some of the northern state governors had also taken measures in taking care of street kids who are from Adamawa.

“We have 132 Almajirai, which is one-third of the 400 street kids (Almajirai) from Gombe.” He also said, “we have security to accompany them with a guide and have spoken with the Gombe State Government and they are ready to receive them.”
