The German Bundesliga is set to return this weekend, just over two months after it was suspended due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus. This decision makes The German Bundesliga the first major football league to resume during this global pandemic.
With all the major leagues across the world currently suspended, the German Bundesliga would have unprecedented global attention of soccer lovers this weekend. The viewers would not only want to see the return of football but they would also want to see the success of the medical protocols put in place by the German Bundesliga Executive Committee.
As part of the government’s measures to keep the spread of the Coronavirus in check, the remaining German Bundesliga games would be played behind closed doors and with strictly monitored conditions.
One of the conditions includes having a total of 213 people in the stadiums. There would be 98 people around the football pitches, these 98 people consist of players, coaches, ball boys, and photographers. Also an additional 115 people would be allowed in the stands. These people include the participating teams’ officials and media personnel.
Another condition states there would be no handshakes, no team photos, and child mascots.
Today, The German Bundesliga Clubs will decide if it would allow five substitutions per team in each game as proposed by FIFA to The International Football Association Board (IFAB).

The German Bundesliga has nine games left to play, which is likely to span six weeks and would be completed before June 30.
